Liberal Democrats won all three of the council by-election seats they were defending yesterday, including a seat in East London.
Welcoming the Liberal Democrat win in the Barking & Dagenham ward of Eastbury, the Kensington & Chelsea councillor Jennifer Kingsley, expressed her congratulations:
"I am delighted that Dianne Challis held the seat for the Liberal Democrats. Across the city, from east to west, in every type of constituency, the Liberal Democrats are proving that they have the most attractive set of policies."
Kingsley said she was looking forward to the London-wide elections on June 10th next year when voters will choose a new London mayor, new MEPs, and new GLA assembly members.
"Yesterday's results demonstrate that our party is serious and united. Every vote will count next year, from all across London. Kensington & Chelsea voters are already represented by Liberal Democrat MEP Sarah Ludford and by a strong Lib Dem group on the GLA. Come the summer, I want to see such representation increase to include more MEPs, more Assembly members and of course, a new mayor in Simon Hughes."
