Thames Water has serious problems (but this tap seems just fine)
OfWat, the water industry regulator, has announced that Thames Water are permitted to increase their bills by 24% in the next six years from an average of £210 to £261 for water and sewerage.
Commenting on the news, the Liberal Democrat Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Kensington & Chelsea, Councillor Jennifer Kingsley, criticised Thames Water:
"Thames Water has problems with leaky pipes and raw sewage being pumped into the Thames, so we are not denying that something must be done. However, it is astounding that Londoners are supposed to sit back and accept the case for increases despite Thames Water's large profits and its high salary payments for its directors."
Earlier, Liberal Democrat London Assembly Member, Mike Tuffrey, stated:
"Serious questions must be asked about why it is the customer who is being asked to pay for the improvements."
