More Details About Kennedy's Pledge: 2000 Extra Police for London

As reported earlier on this site, Liberal Democrat leader Charles Kennedy has pledged 10,000 new police officers across the UK. Now, Jenny Kingsley, our candidate for Kensington & Chelsea, provides you with the London Lib Dems' 3-point plan to combat violence against the person in London.
"Firstly, we are going to save billions of pounds by scrapping Labour's illiberal obsession with the flawed Identity Cards. We will use that cash to pay for an extra 2,007 police in London.
"Next, we will recruit the extra 1,095 PCSO's needed to complete the roll-out of the Safer Neighbourhood programme
"Finally, we will invest more than £30million in new technology to help prevent and detect crime more effectively in the capital, to allow officers more time on the beat, rather than stuck in police stations filling out forms."
