Lib Dem Lord Lester is looking into claims that Tony Blair and George Bush agreed to take military action when the two met at the President's ranch in Texas in April 2002. He has been pursuing the matter for the past year via parliamentary questions and the Freedom of Information Act, but he is yet to receive an answer:
"I have now received three successive letters, one just this morning, saying they need more time, and I am sorry to say that I have no doubt that this is an abuse of power.
The foreign office knows perfectly well what I am seeking and they are simply playing desperately for time until after the election. The latest letter I have received said no decision would be taken until May 20, which falls conveniently after the election."
