Brian, with Sarah Ludford MEP, in Portobello market
It was a visit back 'home' for Lib Dem Mayoral candidate Brian Paddick who visited Portobello Market on 25th January. Brian was the Detective Chief Inspector at Notting Hill in 2003, but this time he had come to visit key stakeholders and local residents in this unique community in the heart of London as he prepares to take on Ken Livingstone in the elections on 1st May.
"It was good to be back in my 'old manor'," said Brian. "My commitment to SCRAP the Western Extension of the Congestion Charge was just what local traders wanted to hear. C-Charge and parking charges are killing off Portobello Market and local businesses. We need to invest in our local shopping areas and encourage our local traders or we will rip the heart out of our local communities."
Brian was accompanied by local activists, the London Assembly candidate for London West Central, Merlene Emerson, and the three top London Euro-candidates: Sarah Ludford MEP, Jonathan Fryer and Dinti Batstone.

Brian also visited the London Lighthouse, the Terrence Higgins Trust's main base in West London. As a long-time supporter of THT, Brian was warmly welcomed by the staff and visitors there.
