(L-R) Caroline Pidgeon AM, Robin Meltzer, Tom Brake MP - campaigning for 1 Hour Bus Ticket
On 21st October, Robin Meltzer, the Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Spokesperson for Kensington, joined Lib Dem Assembly Member Caroline Pidgeon and Tom Brake MP to call for a one-hour bus ticket on Oyster cards.
"Caroline's motion won unanimous backing from London Assembly Members and now we call on the Mayor of London to act," said Robin. "It is unfair that pay-as-you-go Oyster users are penalised when we want to change buses. When you need to change tube trains, it's no problem. You don't get charged until you leave the Underground. But if you are travelling by bus and need to use more than one bus to get to our destination, you get charged each time you change bus. It's the same principle, so it should operate in the same way.
"Caroline's proposal would would allow passengers to change buses without being charged again.
"This is a system which works well in other European cities. It's high time London catches up and I'm really pleased to support this Liberal Democrat campaign."
