Tim Jones and sitting Councillor Carol Caruana are two of our local Council candidates
As the Local Elections on 6th May approach, Kensington & Chelsea Liberal Democrats have been setting out some key campaigning priorities, including on affordable housing and the protection of our local shops.
1) Stop the proportion of affordable housing in our Borough from falling which is forcing families in social housing to live in overcrowded conditions and key workers to leave the Borough altogether. We need affordable housing on new developments, not simply a replacement of old blocks.
2) Protect our local shops and markets. Publicise planning applications widely so residents who use shops and services are consulted on plans.
3) Prevent the export of the elderly. Provide residential care in the Borough, including for those with dementia, allowing people to stay in the area they call home.
4) Reaffirm our commitment to a new secondary school for North Kensington and make sure its admissions policy prioritises local children.
5) Refuse the sale of any Post Office unless the development funds the provision of new or existing postal services in the area.
