A spokesperson for the Liberal Democrats said:
"It was very apparent from the campaign that the Conservative and Labour votes were incredibly polarised in a ward with established "Tory" and "Labour" areas. Our votes, however, came from all over the ward - proving that in Kensington & Chelsea, the Lib Dems are the only party appealing across the board.
Liberal Democrat candidate Peter Kosta, congratulating Cllr Faulks, said:
"A message has been sent to Cllr Faulks's party, and to a Labour party that had expected to do much better at this stage in the electoral cycle, that they must stop taking the electorate for granted.
"I stood because I believe the residents of Norland Ward in particular, and Kensington & Chelsea in general, deserve councillors who will put local people first, and work hard on behalf of all residents from all backgrounds.
"I hope Cllr Faulks will use the aftermath of the by-election as an opportunity do just that. I congratulate her and would like to thank all the residents who supported me."
