School for Scandal

Further to our previous news, the Borough's Major Planning Committee did NOT meet on 22nd May to consider whether to allow the Tory Council to sell off the playing fields at Holland Park School, the Borough's ONLY comprehensive school. The Council have yet to announce a new date but there is talk of it happening on Thursday 26th June.

The Council wants to sell the space to luxury property developers who will build over much of the play area. Money raised from the deal will go to demolishing the school and re-building it from scratch on the smaller site.

But now the Council's own panel of architectural experts have said that the plans for the new school are "monolithic", would "date very quickly" and "showed little appreciation" for the local conservation zone.

The Lib Dems are fighting the plans - more on this soon.
